1,001 Rules for my Unborn Son

When JD & Lindsay find out they are having a little boy I am RUNNING to Barnes & Nobel to get this for them. This book is full of great advice for anyone actually. Here are some of my favorite examples:
354. Experience the serenity of traveling alone.
408. Don’t let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be.
392. When you're with new friends, don't just talk about old friends.
330. Give credit. Take the blame.
310. Make time for your mom on your birthday. It's her special day too.

Marilyn said it best- "Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."

"You put high heels on and you change."- Manolo Blahnik

“I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.”- Marilyn Monroe

How about them apples?

The Script

My brother introduced me to this band about a year ago but I never listened to the full CD until last week. I was able to listen to the entire album straight through. My favorite song is "Breakeven" but they are all pretty good... check them out!

My Motto:

I have this poster in my office- it gets me through the tough days!

Sometimes it's okay to judge a book by its cover, especially when it's a classic!

Great Expectations, Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice etc, these are all the classics, redesigned with super swanky hard-covers. Available at Anthropology and Amazon.com $13-20 each- they are just too cute!

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: 2009 in a Nutshell

Oh what a year it has been! Here's the Reader's Digest version of a year in the life of Kendra Lee Dwyer
-I ran my very 1st FULL Marathon, and completed 3 Half Marathons to complete the Triple Crown.
-My BEST Friend got enganged and asked me to be her Maid of Honor.
-I lost my Grandmother Dwyer, and I miss her everyday. She was so special to me and I feel blessed that she lived such a fulfilled life. She is now in a better place and watching over me. I'll never forget the last time I saw her which was when I went back home in March.
-I Co-chaired the Impact Committee for Junior League and completed the "80 Days of Impact" campaign in celebration of our 80th Anniversary.
-I visited my Grandfather Dwyer's gravesite in San Antonio, Texas for the first time in my life.
-I achieved 140% of my annual sales goal at work.
-I fell in love and got my heart broken by someone who I now consider to be a great friend. It was quite a roller coaster ride, but I've learned an awful lot about myself in the process.

'Tis the Season to be Jolly

I'm just so stinkin' happy to be HOME for the Holidays. I love Tucson.

Words to live by-

"I think our love can do anything we want it to."

"So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're going to have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you forever, you and me, every day."

Why I live here...

It is safe to say that the ocean is my favorite part about living in San Diego (well that and our year-round impeccable weather). There is something about the ocean that makes me feel small, but not in a bad way. In such a way that reminds me just how much possibility remains unfound and untapped in this beautiful world of ours. Watching the sunset at the beach is something I could do every single day, and something I should absolutely make a point to do more often.
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

Start now.

It takes 21 days to create a habit and today is day one. I've actually lived by these habits before so it is just a matter of reinstating them. Summer is over, time to shape up!!

1. Back to the gym at least 4 weekday mornings a week.
2. Running 30 miles a week or more.
3. Bringing lunch to work at least 3 days per week.
4. Eating dinner at home if possible during the week but always before 7pm.
5. No more late night food on the weekends. Period.

Seems like a lot, but they are all pretty simple. Stay tuned.

Pool and Hike at Torrey Pines, Great Day!!

Today I laid out by the pool at The Lodge at Torrey Pines with Alex and Lauren and then went for a Sunset Hike at Torrey Pines. It was such a beautiful day, the type of day that reminds me just how much I love living in San Diego.

Advice from Bobbi Brown...

1. Spread Beauty
2. Do what you love.
3. Love what you do.
4. Keep it Simple.
5. Laugh out loud.
6. Go with the flow.
7. Be real.
8. Focus on the positive.
9. Do your best.
10. Just breathe.

Being with them and laughing with them is when I am the happiest. I love them more than anything and I feel so lucky to have such an amazing family.

2009!

Wow- I can't believe it has been over 4 months since I have looked at this. Ha. That is so typical of me. Well now we are in a new year and of course with a new year brings New Year's Resolutions. I am not certain I have ever really kept with a resolution for a full year, but this year I am going to. I have a few ideas of what it is that I will be resolving to do. 1. Keep in touch with friends better, especially the ones that don't live here in San Diego. 2. Keep in touch with JD more, make it a point to talk to him once a week. 3. Develop and maintain a budget so I can start saving money (this will be the toughest one!) 4. Add a weight training element to my workouts.

Now I just need to come up with a plan on how I will do this!
